Headlamp adjustment

Featured Replies

This relates to a 2006 Octavia. The headlights, on dipped beam, are very low, even when turned fully up using the adjuster on the dash. The other posts to the forum seem to relate to earlier models. Can anyone advise please?

There are what might be two adjusters, one male and one female black plastic hex "adjusters" on the main beam side of the unit, but fiddling with these does not seem to change anything. Am I missing something?

First of all, please go to Octavia II forum

Secondly, if these are xenons, you need VAG-COM cable or similar to put headlights in the "adjustment" mode, otherwise they will not adjust correctly.

For both halogens and xenons, usually there are a few more than 2 adjustment screws - I counted no less than 4 on each headlight of my Mk1 Octavia and Mk1. Superb

Finally, if these are halogens, before adjusting anything check if the headlights move up/down in line with adjuster knob in the cabin. If they do not, there is a problem either with fuse, wiring, dial, or adjuster motors and needs to be sorted before the adjustment.
