Oil cooler leak?

Featured Replies

Hi all

My first thread start on here!

Got my VRS today and am very pleased so far

Upon getting home though i did discover a loose section on the offside front of the engine nappy, normally secured by a number of hex screws. It was dark but when shining the torch up to check it i then noticed an oil leak!!!

When panic had subsided i had a bit more of a look and a think, prior to getting the car jacked up tomorrow with cover off to have a real good look.

Car doesn't seem to be using oil and there doesn't seem to be loads of oil on the tray so shouldn't be anything too serious.

The oil seems too have accumulated around a hose or pipe at the front off the engine on the offside front corner of the engine tray. I am guessing that this may be the location of the oil cooler(????) and it may just be as simple as a new hose (fingers crossed!). Hard to see with engine tray still in situ at the mo!

Do you have any ideas of what may be leaking in that area of the engine? (Impossible to guess from the above i am sure, but always worth asking!)

Thanks in advance for any comments or suggestions

Andy

this has been asked about soooo many times on the forum it is unreal, but here goes, the oil is from the intercooler pipe work, there is a joint which is just visible in that little gap in the undertray, it is nothing to worry about and is generally not a cause for concern, all VRS' do it

Thanks for that, had had the exact same diagnostic from one of your members who also frequents mr2roc.org!!

Checked today and was the inlet pipe to the IC that had the breather residue on it.

Thanks for the response though and i will try to search more thoroughly in the future.

The VRS goes on to live another day!

Andy.
