Silver roof bars - fitting/price? & other observations..

Featured Replies

I purchased July 08 Vrs estate last September, fantastic car, the best I have owned (Saab 93/BMWE60/Passat before). Mine is silver, all standard apart from parking sensors. I got it for what I believe was a good price (13.5k, PD diesel engine, 5000 miles since new by Skoda employee, 10000 now!). I want to fit auto dimming mirror, which I have read about here, but also want to fit the silver roor rails in place of the black ones. I think this will look good. Anybody have the part number & price?. Also is it a DIY job or will the head lining have to be dropped?. Cheers.

This is my 1st estate & it was a bit noisier than saloons. I made the car a lot quieter with minimal hassle. I purchased a 2M x 3M piece of new black carpet with thick soundproof backing for about £20 from the 'bay'. I used the estate boot carpet as a template & cut it out to go under the standard boot carpet. This helped a bit. I then cut some out to go under the back seat. Tucking it under the carpet on the front edge on back carpet that you see when back seat base raised. This made a more noticable improvement in my opinion. It is now a lot quieter to my sensitive ears!

I ordered Silver rails with my new car, they are silver painted as opposed to alloy (as Audi/VW), it will probably be more cost effective to have them painted, this may not mean they have to be removed, it is a headlining out job I am afriad !

Cheers

Thats a good idea. I dont really use them as such - so they shouldn't get scratched/chipped. Also I dont fancy dropping the headlining if thats needed.
