what sports springs available for VRS

i am looking for a set of lowered springs for my mk1 vrs octy.

Not looking for a kit ,just springs so wanna know whats available and who is using what.

also whats best to go for??????????

i did try wietec but they say they dont do vrs specific springs just the full kits.

any ideas guys?????

I think the Vrs is already factory lowered. I looked at some springs and i said the sport springs could be higher than the sports factory lowered cars.

they are lower by about 15-20 mm from standard, however i want to go just slightly lower by another 10-15 mm and balance the car out as they def tend to have a nose down stance!

get some 40mm springs there ok on mine.......

im runnin spax -40mm springs on mine and they seem ok looks pretty low too. ride is firm but not to harsh, hope that helps :thumbup:

H&R springs are your answer mate, they will lower the vrs by about 15mm and are the correct poudage many people on hear have them including myself, to me it makes the vrs sit just right low but not stupid low.

Couple of points from my own experience:

1. Are you running standard shocks on your VRS? If so, they may not be able to keep up with the spring rate of the H&Rs (especially if they are a few years old). I put H&R springs on my old VR6 with a set of brand new standard shocks. It felt great at first but after a couple of weeks I reailsed that grip had been compromised as the car was inclined to 'bounce' dangerously on roads that were not super smooth. In the end they drove me nuts and I reverted to standard springs. Didn't look back.

2. Agreed, the back of the vRS is a little high compared to the front. However, the front is already pretty low and already hits speed bumps at standard height on mine.

3. Have you considered saving up a bit more cash and getting coilovers? They are 100% better IMHO. The shocks within the unit are matched to the springs and you can set the car up exactly at the height you want (rather than having the rear lowered to the right height and the front droped too low to be practical).

I know there are loads of folks here that will tell you the H&Rs are fine (especially with Koni FSD shocks) but I'd strongly advise stepping up to the full coilover solution now rather than spending money on springs that will in turn require new shocks and still won't gaive you the flexibility of a set of decent coilies.

Totally agree with iep, fitting new shorter stiffer springs to the original old dampers won't be the best for handling. So you really need the FSD's to accompany them, but they're silly money.

Yeah totally agree this is the best way to go, i cant comment on what h&r springs are like on standard dampers, but i would imagine abit bouncy. If you can afford koni fsd's then the two work well together.

Agree with those comments.

Had FSD's with H&R springs and very good combination. Changed and went for Weitec Coilovers as those have more adjustment choice.

I do know of a few folks with standard Shocks and H&R spings but beileve their cars are very low milage and shocks are probably ok to handle the springs. If the VRS has done lots of miles then not a economic / practical choice to just change springs IMO.

The VRS is a fussy car in the handling dept.
