Fabia ariel removal

Featured Replies

I keep thinking this must have been asked before, but my attempts at searching have failed, so I hope I'm not about to cause the death of any kittens....

I want to remove the ariel from my vRS (looking at replacing it with a stubby version). However, after I unscrew it, I can then lower it, but it does not seem inclined to come off. Is there a secret to it, or should I be yanking it harder? I'm not keen on damaging either the ariel itself or the roof fitting, so I've chickened out of giving it a solid yank.

Paul.

Not sure if same. But, i neede to take mine off octy1, it unscrewed so far so it moved up and down but did not come away . I pulled hard and it came off. There is a ball on end of its thread.

Not sure if it is one you just yank, but on my car there was a bolt on the other side of the roof lining that needed undoing. Had to take off the plastic trim at the boot end of the roof lining, then you could reach under the lining with a spanner to undo the bolt.

Sounds as though it may be the same. Once I've unscrewed the ariel, I can lay it flat pointing towards the back of the car. So it may well have a ball at the of the thread. Seems a strange arrangement, but then its a strange ariel.

Thanks. I'll have to investigate further.

Thanks. I'll have to be careful.

On mine, once I've unscrewed it, I can lay the ariel flat against the spoiler, which I would have though precluded it being bolted through the roof. Can yours be be laid flat after unscrewing the ariel mast?

yup, mine goes flat, but i wouldnt trust it in a carwash tho, removal is best. It clipped back in easy enuf too.

It can't anymore as it's gone and I've smoothed / painted the area it was in. But my old setup was the old skool one position only base. The aerial just screwed in and out so was easily nickable.

how do you get this ****er off! :S

anybody got their Ariel off yet and got a stubby one on yet?

Easy! Fully Unscrew and waggle anticlockwise whilst applying upward pressure it'll disengage, I've currently got a new shape Ibiza mast fitted!
