mph clock, mileage,c/control

Featured Replies

just pick up 1.9 superb 130 53 the old owner as said he as replace the battery for me, but mileage as gone back to zero, the mph clock reading seem to be a lot faster like 100mph and more when i doing 2000 revs, [i think that about 60mph] and the c/control is not smooth is that because the speedo reading is not right . i have been reading the blog and it say leave the battery disconnect for 10 minutes i don't know if the old owner has done that . shell i try thanks

Changing the battery alone will not give these symptoms you have, yes the trip mileage and clock reset themselves to zero and 0.00 but the speedo should work correctly.

You can try disconnecting the battery (make sure you have the radio code or if in doubt take it back and let him do it) for 10 mins but i can't see that being the problem as fitting a new battery would take that long anyway.

I'd expect the trip reading (and all the other computer functions) to zero themselves, and you might lose the radio presets. The code should be recollected from the convenience ECU memory when the battery is reconnected, and the ignition switched on.

But if I'm understanding you correctly the main odometer reading has zeroed? If so, then he's botoxed something up somewhere!

A speedo reading of about 60mph for 2_000rpm is plausible (top gear mph/1000rpm is in the right range), but if it feels like the car is doing more like 100mph!! Are you passing everythign else on the road, or just a few mph faster than trucks on the m/way at an indicated 60?

i think i find the fault, the nearside floor is flood and that black box on the floor, the computer inside is wet, so out it came as well the carpet to dry. Tomorrow put it all back and try it, what a stupid place to put a black box .thanks dave
