Need help with the ET on BBS CH wheels

Featured Replies

Hello guys,

So, here`s the thing. I got a 2009 Octavia RS, 2.0TSI. I`m constantly modifing it and now i got to a point of where i don`t know what to do.

I`ve already ordered a Big Brake Kit from Volkswagen Racing on the front, 6 pot caliper, 352x32mm disc. On the rear i have R32 oem brake kit.

Now here is my problem. Tomorrow i must order the wheels. They are BBS CH 18" x 8.5J. But i don`t know what ET to choose. The available ET's for this specific wheel dimension are ET35 and ET50.

I`m afraid that if i choose ET50 the wheels won't fit because they will hit the brake caliper. If I choose ET35 i`m afraid that in tight corners the wheel will rub the fender (wheel arch, i don`t know the exact term in English). I mention that i have Biltein B16 PSS10 Coilovers.

What do you recommend me? I live in Romania, so excuse my bad English :D

Please help

Thank you very much

Sorry I can't answer your question, I would be interested in seeing some pictures of your car when its finished.

I think the ET50 would be a better bet, but its hard to know with the calipers you have.

I run BBS CH026 8x19 ET51 on my car and with Porsche 996T calipers I need a 10mm spacer. I was running a 15mm spacer previously which is an effective ET36 with no major problems. A bit of rubbing on one track day but that was it.

TEFF - Sounds like a hell of a car. Please post pics. :)

Get the CH025 or CH026 ET50s like Shark said. That way you can try them with your big brake kit and if they fit, great, if not, you can stick some 10mm spacers on.

I would not get the CH012 8.5J ET35 variant because then you're stuck with that offset. They would be sticking out nearly 3cm more than the OEM wheels and, as you're running lowered on coilovers, it will surely rub. Too high an offset does not look good on the front of the Octavia 2 either.

Thank you all guys for your answers. So, i`ve decided. I`ll got with CH025 8x18 ET50. If is needed i`ll go with a 10mm spacers. In about 10 min i`ll post the link to the topic in which i`ll present my car.

Thank you all again

So is ET42 or somewhere around that not available?

Built specifically for the Golf 5/6 platform cars such as A3, Leon and Octavia, the front brakes require a minimum wheel diameter of 18†because of the disc size - the kit fits all standard factory 18" wheels. The kit fits straight onto any of these cars without modification, and includes pads, replacement braided flexible lines and all brackets and bolts to fit.

I believe on the Zeniths thats come on the vRS there ET51 so ET50 should be okay

I bought some CHs today. CH028s. 18" 8J ET43.

It was those or £1500 on some RS-GTs. I thought I'll have these and money for something like a Seat Surgeons re-trim.

Pros

Slightly more subtle than most CHs as it doesn't say motorsport on them.

Slight weight saving over the 19" CH. Big weight saving over OEM.

Nice fitment so no spacers needed on the rear to look good.

Get to re-use my tyres and replacements cheaper.

Slightly better ride than the 19"s

Cons

Look a bit mincey compared to the 19"s

People will think I'm driving around on fakes or VZ033s :giggle:

Have to swap out the Audi badges

:) Just trying to source some 18" Zeniths to replace the 17s I've got - if only my budget would stretch to BBS!!

They're 9J and the tyres look to be at least 235s so they might rub anyway. Guess it depends how you use the car.

Crikey! What make are those? Like the design.. not sure about the mirror finish though (or is that just my eyes?)..

They're new shape Audi TT ones. Dunno who makes them for Audi. Think the front one's just dirty.
