One for the bargaining - Land Rover Special edition

Featured Replies

Hi Guys,

Suddenly Land rover seems to be pitching there product also at the lower cost bracket.

The new Land Rover special White edition seems to be pushing at the price range of the Yeti.

As an engineer for me it seems great that we can compete against Skoda on price, but it may also

be a good bargaining chip when negotiating with the Dealer for the Yeti.....

All the best

Jerry

The Landrover Freelander has proven off road capabilities, is more biased in this way, I beleive, their is a slight compromise in on road dynamics. It is a very good vehicle and this version does make it slightly more attractive because the FL II is quite expensive. I think that Skoda has better reliability ratings and with the Yeti we have a fresh and on road a more dynamic car. Off road it is possible that the Haldex 4th Generation might well be superior to the Freelander electronic set up. It would be interesting to see how each copes with similar off road situations.

• A choice of two exterior colours – Alaska White and Santorini Black

Awesome spec - where do I sign !?

I pointed out this a while ago, when I went to my local LR dealer to see these models, and he stated that the Yeti was one of the vehicles they considered competition.

And no, I still haven't decided!!

Freelander 2 has better ground clearance. Is pretty good on the tarmac (driven a few loaners) too TBH.

Trouble is, to get the best out of it you need Terrain Response (a multi program version of the Off Road button on the Yeti).

Comparing the spec inside, the Yeti wins hands down for the money, and from memory has better interior space (packaging).

When my Disco3 goes back in Jan 2011 (god I will miss it emoticon-0106-crying.gif) , the Yeti is top of my list. Freelander 2 a close second, but way too pricey even on a lease compared to the Skoda.

Skoda really have hit the nail on the head with the Yeti in this class. Shame it doesn't look a bit more rugged...

Yes the Freelander has better clearances and articulation but the Yeti has Haldex 4th generation which contains an eLSD across the rear wheels and is more up to date and faster acting than the system in LF II. Some of the Video show the Yeti of road and it does really well on standard road tyres. Obviously it would depend on the type of cross country terrain but Yeti would aquit its self well.

So the Yeti has a centre and rear ediff ? Thats cool.
