H&R Springs, Powerflex Bushes and R32 ARB on 4x4

Featured Replies

I picked my car up from JBS on Sunday after dropping it off for a few handling upgrades. I went for H&R springs (on standard dampers), Powerflex wishbone bushes up front and an R32 front ARB.

The most obvious and noticable difference without driving the car is the big improvement in the cars appearance. It now has an aggresive look with a slight rake towards the front and the wheels sit nicely in the arches (pics to follow when I get chance).

Initial driving impressions are very good, no rubbing, clearance over speed humps is fine and I can park the nose upto kerbs without scraping the vRS front bumper. Ride quality is also pretty much as standard. Feedback is instantly better, roll is reduced and I can take roundabouts far more aggresively. One suprising bonus which I wasn't expecting is better traction from a standing start. I used to abuse the car before but now I can REALLY abuse it. :D I just want a rear ARB now to finish it off.

Overall a very cost effective upgrade IMHO and even including fitting is considerably less than the purchase price of a decent set of coilovers.

But, and maybe this is what you want, stiffening the front will induce more understeer, ie it will break away earlier?

(or is this just "work in progress" till you have the bits for the rear?)

The rear will be getting upgraded in due course, I was waiting to see how the rear camber was with the new springs as if I needed to alter the camber then new bushes come with the adjustable bars.

Cool  keep us posted.
