FL Headlamps - dipped beam

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I replaced the factory fit bulbs in my FL Octy with a pair of +50% bulbs last weekend, and they're much brighter now. However although I did the job as carefully as I could the levels are slightly out now so I want to tweak them. Can anyone tell me how to do this? I assume there will be a knob of some description on the back of the unit but not looked yet...

Thanks in advance...

Bob.

There are a couple of white hex socket devices behind each dip beam housing. One moves the beam sideways and the other up and down.I forget which is which.

Main beam just has the up and down adjuster.

If you took the headlight units out to change the bulbs, are you sure that you got them back exactly where they were?

The adjustment itself shouldn't go out, as there are no shields in the bulbs like on H4. With projector lights, I would suggest the mis-alignment is because the light unit isn't installed exactly where it should be.

Try taking the headlight unit out again, and then reinstalling it. Failing that, make sure the bulb is seated correctly in the lamp unit.

After changing dipped beams on my Elegance, I noticed that the off side was shining high, and when I looked, the gaps around the headlight weren't quite right. Once the lamp unit had come back out and then refitted, it was back to normal.

OK I'll pop them off and check. Thanks Mike.

What make did you fit Bob and are they a good colour match for the LED day lights ?

Phillips +50%. Can't comment about the colour match as I've only seen the effect from inside the car! Definitely worth fitting them though as they're considerably brighter.
