How to: Change Front Speakers Fabia vRS

Featured Replies

Ok so I've not had a good luck at the door card yet but was wondering if changing the front speakers is a simple job or full removal of the door cards? I have done a search but can't find the answer.... Help!!

Cheers

If it's the same setup as a standard fabia then it does involve removal of the door cards. They haynes manual gives a great explanation ogbgetting the door cards off, it's pretty simple stuff. The new speakers may need an adaptor, I couldn't find one for a fabia so I used one for a golf and it worked fine. To remove the stock speakers you will need to drill 3 or 4 rivets out either side. And possibly drill some new holes. It's all relativly simple stuff as long as you have an electric drill really.

I can go into moe detail if you need it, hope that helped.

Moved to correct forum...

door cards off is pretty easy, the speaker is riveted on with four rivets so you'll have to drill those out to remove the speaker and replace them when you put the new one in. I only know because the carrier is sat on the settee next to me...

what speakers fit though as the fabia standard speakers are quite shallow?

I got some Alpine ones from halfrauds they fitted easily and sound fine. £35 IIRC

I had these last time, and I'll be buying another set for this one. A marked improvement, for not much cash. Make sure you buy some sound deadening too, as that improved the response and also cut down general noise/windnoise nicely.

Don't forget speaker adaptors too...
