Steering wheel badge

Featured Replies

Does anybody know how (if?) to remove the metal badge mounted in the middle of the steering wheel without doing any damage to the surround? I don't want to try doing it with a kitchen knife! I've got something else I'd like to put there - and no, I'm not trying to pass it off as a VW, etc, etc... ;-)

Thanks!

If you do try to remove it make sure you film it. You've been Framed still pays good money

Don't do it! That's not just a steering wheel centre you're talking about -- it's an airbag! That badge is fixed to the outer skin of the airbag in such a way that it won't cause injury if the airbag deploys. Without properly securing any replacement, whatever you put in the original badge's place will become a 200mph projectile if it's not properly secured, and could cause you very serious injury.

No way would I start modifying it.

You could invalidate your insurance/warranty by doing that too.

OK, thanks. I'd assumed it was nothing more than cosmetic. Good to know.

Time to look for plan B...
