Few problems after being sat over christmas

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I decided to keep my MK1 octavia Vrs off the road over christmas as we had quite alot of snow and didnt really need it.

Anyway got it back on the road last week and have some problems with it.

1st and most important one being if I unlock the car using the remote all the windows will go down but not every time I unlock it.

2nd I was sat in the car stood still with it running and the locks started locking and unlocking really quickly for about 30 secs then stopped.

3rd And final my gear leaver will not return to the centre if i take it out of 1st like a really old car making it harder to find gears. It used to just spring

back to the centre so going from second to 3rd was a hell of alot easier and quicker. I have oiled linkages but still no better.

Hope you guys can help

Thanks Stu

1 & 2 sound like issues with the convienence unit in the drivers door.... may well be caused by water ingress.

3. Centering spring broken? I broke one on a Focus once... guess the Octavia has a similar arrangement.

Any one else.

I'm pretty sure Matt's right. If it is the centring spring, you should have the same issue coming out of first and second.
