5 yr Warranty

Featured Replies

Why don't Skoda and other manufactures offer 5 yr warranty's on their cars??, if Hyundai and Kia give you 5 and 7 why can't overs?. I am looking to replace the Fabia later on in the year and a Hyundai i20 and a Kia Rio ( new version out this year ) are looking good at the moment, I don't really want to leave Skoda and the dealer but why go for a car with 3 yr warranty when you can have 5-7.

Because the Koreans think they have something to prove and the extra sales will outweigh the cost of providing the longer cover.

Skoda don't think it's worth it. The second that they believe that it's costing them money *not* to do so it will happen , but it won't be before the more expensive VAG brands get it.

Because IMHO it is a con

To qualify for the 7 year warranty it has to be serviced by Kia for the full seven years (Hyundai 5 YEARS) Now that is a lot of manufacturer servicing, at manufacurer RATES

National

Kia and Hyundai are beginning to sell serious numbers of cars - Hyundai is biggest selling manufacturer by volume, Kia 5th by volume Nov/Dec/Jan in the UK - between them capturing 20% of the market.

And sorry National but you're wrong - the 7yr warranty is a manufacturer warranty and therefore it doesn't have to be serviced by KIA, it can be done any any VAT registered garage and won't invalidate the warranty as long as genuine KIA parts are used.

If a warranty had those terms, it would be illegal under the EU Block Exemption Rules Directive - the servicing can be carried out by an independent, but must be done to a professional standard.
