Octavia- water ingress and Brake pad query

Featured Replies

Hi All,

I am a new member and the proud owner of a 02 Octavia VRS in black. Great car after moving up in the world from a Ford courier van that was my last set of wheels ( for sale now). Now my czech book is one page lighter I have a query and 2 problems that I am hoping someone can help with.

Topic 1:

When opening the tailgate after it has been raining- a steady stream of water pours nicely into the boot space from the lid- am I then only one suffering this? is there a solution- trim etc? Should I stop moaning and enjoy the good bits?

Topic 2:

While I am here I thought I would also ask- I have just had new pads fitted front and rear- driven 100 miles since then- brakes bedded in nicely( no harsh braking etc) then today whilst re-torquing the wheels I looked through my nice clean alloys to have a peep at my nice new pads in the nice green caliper sand it looks as if there is a 3mm gap between the top edge of the pad and the disc?? as if the pad has a taper/slant on it? Am I being stupid or is there a problem? I have not moved the car since spotting this and am planning to take it back to the garage first thing on Monday in case- can any Briskoda fans offer their opinion on this?

Many thanks, I look forward to your replys,

Tom and his VRS

welcome to briskoda my dad has a octavia and when the boot opens he has the same problem not really bothered about it tbh try posting in the octavia 1 section might get more response there

Hi, good of you to take the time to reply- as you said maybe I should just be like your dad and put up with the leak and go with the 'flow' :-)

Glad you liked the Czech book line- took me ages to think of that one.by the way I have sorted the brake query too- my mechanic tells me the new pads have an angle on them? That put a stop to me worrying about that.
