Get the Haynes if you haven't. There are no significant issues other than brake bleeding not being the easiest (use a pressure bleeder or a competent independant for the fluid change).

Will a 1.9TDi last 100_000 miles? And the rest! More like 500_000 miles with regular service and if the body lasts that long (but when did you last see a rusty Octy?)

We might be able to give you a steer for a preferred independant if you'll narrow down where in Scotland you are a bit more (county or town, not postal address).

easy enough mate, I did mine the other week.. diff engine tho but they are simple enough to do.

Take Ken's advice mate and invest in the Haynes manual! a must and very easy to follow. brake bleeding is something Id find a good place to do it as in my experience it cant just be done like that. read my thread for more info lol.

thanks guys......off to get haynes manual on wed.......

leaving the brakes to my local garage/s...after i get couple of quotes.....

air/oil filter look pretty straight forward to remove and put on.......anything i should know ? or just off and on ?

i know...get the haynes...

lol yea and get a new sump plug copper seal.

also be careful you dont cross thread the plug or over tighten it, ive heard it can bugger up the sump.

for the filter mate i got one of these lol

awesome bit of kit but needs the large socket not the small ones.

other than that mate its easy.

I borrowed one of those off my mate last time I did mine - they're excellent, make the job so much easier!

Sorry about the delay, but all A4s are basically the same. Haynes don't actually mention trim specs except in a few photos.

I prefer the filter wrench made by Laser Tools and it's half the price.
