As you can see from my sig, I've got a 1.8T with a remap and a few other bits and bobs.

My question is, should I be getting 'pushed into my seat' thrills every time I take it for a brisky, or is it really just not that fast?

I've never driven a vRS so I've only got my car as Octy experience. Should I go and test drive a vRS to compare, or do you think I've just got used to mine and really what I'm looking for is a 250+ BHP car?

The reason I've thought this is because I was pulling away from lights up a motorway slip road yesterday next to a V reg Saab 9-5 saloon, and it just seemed to pull away from me too easliy :o

There were no badges on the rear of the Saab to say what model it was, and admittedly I wasn't going mental trying to 'take him' because I'm not into racing old couples in Saabs, but I would have expected the Octy to fly past him without too much effort.

I'm confused :S

I'm wondering if the MAF might be on the way out?

Please help :'(

I can also scan yours for faults if you want?

TBH the Mk1 VRS (or 1.8T) is not a particularly fast performance car, yes in it's time it was fast but it pales into comparison with the hot hatches of today (Focus RS, Audi S3 or RenaultSport R26R anyone?)

A lot of the 9-5 range have pretty high-powered engines in them, I wouldn't have thought it would be clear cut in the Octy's favour.

If you've got used to the power, the cheaper alternative to upgrading to a 250+bhp car would be to take Enterprise up on one of their weekend specials - for £36 you can spend 48 hours with a Daewoo Matiz or Ford Ka, and by Monday morning when you get back into your car it'll feel like a spaceship.

The vRS is a quick car, but there are a lot of rep-mobiles or family barges that can match or out-do it these days.

In fact I had a 59 plate E Class Merc right up my chuff this morning.

When I pulled over to let him past I was expecting to see AMG on the back... no....E250 Diesel!!! how depressing...

I know. I get depressed when I see a diesel badge, too.

There's an easy option, nitrous :)

its only the same as looking at a volvo estate and thinking i'll blast it, till you realise its a 250bhp T5
