buying a fabia 2 best deal?

Featured Replies

Hi, I am looking to take advantage of the vat free on a fabia 2. Just looking at the What Car target price (which the magazine states should be the price the dealer can move to) is it likely that you would be able to get a good deal on the list price and also then get the VAT Free offer as well? Be good to know anyones recent experience at a dealer to give me a bit more confidence before I visit the showroom! thanks,

Hi, welcome to Briskoda, you might be best off asking in the Fabia II section of the sight to get an answer to your question to be honest. While you're looking though check out drivethedeal.com they will give you a price on the car and spec you want and can then put you in touch with a dealer who will sell the car at that price. Best of luck looking for a new car!

Hi Sparticus, I bought a Skoda very recently on the 'no VAT' equivalent deal and it's a bit of a no brainer since it demolishes the first year depreciation. Indeed, when I bought my car (still waiting for it to arrive, though), there were demonstrators and pre-registered vehicles offered (and presumably being bought at) the pre- 'no VAT' offer price, to unsuspecting buyers. Since the 'no-VAT' deal is all about regularising production in the downturn of sales after closure of the German scrappage scheme, I don't think it will have a major long term effect on second-hand prices (albeit the offer has been extended until the end of March - let's see). I don't know if anyone has negotiated a discount on top of the deal. The spiel I got was that this deal negated any further negotiation, ie. Skoda has underwritten any deal to the discount cited. I'm happy, since I got the top quartile price for the car I was trading in. Which would make me think that there is scope to barter beyond this if it's a straight sale . No matter, go for it and haggle, if only for the usual mats and stuff...
