Lost my key and no spare!

Featured Replies

Ive just come home from working away in swansea for the week and my dad has managed to loose the key for my vrs.

To make matters worth its up for sale and had people wanting to view it this weekend.

What can i do??

Will i have to prepare to be robbed by skoda to get a new one??

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Dan

Oooh sounds like it Dan , not sure but had a mate with a mk4 and he needed to go to vw , wasnt cheap , £200ish mate , think its the coding not the key you get battered for , may be worth asking what 2 would cost as anybody viewing will want a spare , i know i would .

You can order a key by chassis number which will be cut for your locks and ignition barrel etc, then you need someone to code it. I could code it for you but you're a long way away. Do you have VCDS by chance?

I could do with a second key.

The only one I've got is a bit jaked - what with the metal loop at the top broken off.

Can you let me know how much it will cost too please??

PS. Based near Preston

Skoda will charge around £160 for a replacement key.

I did mine for less than £50 with an eBay key, new transponder and blade from Hickleys.com, got the blade cut and then got someone to retrieve the SKC (VAG Tacho/Commander is needed) and then programmed the new transponder with VCDS.

Yes it was more hassle than going to the dealers, but with over £100 saved, for me it was worth it.
