cruise control

Featured Replies

hi anybody help i have just noticed that my cruise control does not work have looked in manual and have checked the fuse which is ok anybody steer me in the right direction i have a 2.0 superb elegance 56 plate

would it be anything to do with the steering wheel controls? or it could be a faulty stalk that switches on the cruise control. hope someone else on here comes up with more suggestions...hope you get it sorted :thumbup:

Is it switched on? slide the cover on the stalk as you can turn it on and off.

If I remember correctly there was a post on here saying the contacts often get gunked up on the indicator stalks. Take a towel and hold it under the steering column to catch any drips, then spray a liberal amount of electrical contact cleaner (someone used WD-40 too) down the end of the stalk. Move the stalk several times to work the cleaner in.

Not sure if this works for the cruise control mind. You'd think that'd be controlled via a wire and not off of indicator contacts. May work though. Failing that remove the steering column collar and check the wiring.

Try the brake pedal switch it was replaced in mine when the cruise stopped working

You can find the instructions for cleaning the cruise control contacts at the following web adress;

Follow the link at the bottom of the page, "repair of cruise control".

The site is in Danish language so you need to use a browser that will translate such as google.

I followed this procedure and it worked fine for me.

Cheers, and good luck, I can't live without my cruise.
