How to connect MP3 player to Symphony car stereo?

Featured Replies

Hi there,

I have a Skoda Fabia (54 plate) with a Symphony car stereo. There is no input socket or headphone into which I can plug in an audio device such as an MP3 player (via its headphone socket).

Can anybody please recommend any solutions which I can fit myself (I am no expert, but can follow an instruction guide!).

I am looking for a compatible plug and play aux adapter or harness of some sort which would permit me to connect my MP3 player via headphone to headphone socket? The simplest and cheapest solution will probably suffice, but if there are more elegant solutions, please do not hesitate to mention those too.

I went to a car audio shop last week and they wanted over £100 to fit me a 'simple wiring solution' - or £150 for a brand new head unit!

Out of interest, I also have an iphone and wondered if connecting this to the potential solution above would also permit my phonecalls to play via the stereo? I am guessing not as I already connect my iphone to a small speaker system via headphone socket, but this only plays the music and not the calls (not ‘iphone compatible’ I guess).

Cheers - Kevin.

This topic is pretty well documented

If you pop 'Connects2' into the quick search box it'll throw up 5 pages for you to peruseemoticon-0144-nod.gif

WOuld you consider an FM adaptor, not as elegant but a lot cheaper. . . Personally, I think you'll be best off buying a compatible headunit from somewhere and replacing the standard one as it works out roughly the same price, has better functionaliy and usually sounds better too.

If you have a satnav, some of those can route audio via the headunit too via FM, maybe something to look into.

Also, you don't happen to have a red vRS do you? As I keep seeing one by me round Jansel Square/Bedgrove Park
