Radio in a Yeti

Featured Replies

Hi

Has anybody tried to install an aftermarket radio in a Yeti? If so, is there anything that one should be aware of? And how do you remove the original one?

Do remember that, for the SE and Elegance, the radio does a lot more than just play. My SE Bolero radio shows info on the heating and air cond plus a visual for the reversing sensors. It also has a slot for a SD card and an Aux input socket. So there is a lot going on that screen. The Elegance has Sat Nav and Phone control as well. ( both can include options specified by the buyer)

Unless you have a specific reason to replace the radio, I suggest you look at the extra speaker options available and use the Aux Input for any other audio input.

Thanks for your reply. If my Yeti was equipped with a radio like the Bolero then I wouldn't change it, but because of an import duty of 180% which also applies to factory fitted accessories, cars in Denmark are often fitted with the cheapest model available. In my case a Blues which isn't the most ideal ICE. So that's why I want to fit a better one.

The best option would be to find a Bolero, Amundsen or even a Columbus on ebay and have it fitted by your dealer...

I had the dealer install a Columbus on a separate deal than buying the car - and really like it. Where in DK are you? I might point you to a good dealer.

Pioneer AVIC 900 worked OK in my Octy and there are trim pieces that work well, but I did not like it as well as the Columbus.

My intention is to fit the radio I already have a ( JVC: KD AVX 77) so what I need to know is if there is anything I need to to pay special attention to. I intent to use the Skoda original kit for additional fi tting of non-original radio AZ0 700 001 but I'm not sure how you remove the factory fitted one. Are there any hidden clips or should I use brute force and simply pull the original one out?

Hi,

would avoid trying to force the radio out, they are generally held in place by security fastening's. Might be advised to see if your dealer could remove it for you to be on the safe side, be cheaper than a new dash component :S

I'll be looking to remove my stereo to fit an amp / subwoofer.

If it's like similar units in Octavia / Golf, you need to remove the trim, and then check for any securing bolts holding the radio in - should then slide out, leaving the quadlock wiring and aerial ready.
