Hi guys, I'm coming up for my first service for my Fabia but I've had several very bad expeiences with main dealers with the Evo and I've found the independent specialists much better.

Does anybody know of a good independent specialist in Yorkshire, preferably close to Barnsley?

I cant recommend Philip Lund, of Steeton, nr Keighley strongly enough. Not the nearest to Barnsley, but a really good garage

Give Fletchers in Hipperholme (On the A58 near Halifax) a try. They used to be the Skoda main dealer and I've used them for my old Fabia SDI and the new VRs I have.

Their service work is very good. I had the VRs timing belt and water pump replaced for £303 inc VAT with all original Skoda bits used.

They will not mess you around and treat you like royalty.

There is also a VAG group specialist in Birstall on the A62. It's in an old mill about a mile down the road from the Showcase cinema. They are called EGR Autos. I've only used these a couple of times but they seemed to know their way around any make from the VAG group.

What work are you after? I know Spitfire Performance do the odd bit on VAG cars, remaps etc.

My Ibiza is currently there getting some 'go faster bits' sorted mate. They are in Wombwell

Very true fella, but without sounding like a advert for them, if you check out the website, they are basically Northern Dealers for JabbaSport which IIRC every loves on Brisky!

I spoke the owner other day about his maps, because a met has just bought a Golf TDi, and he actually reads each ECU, and sends it off to JabbaSport HQ for them to map, then sends it back, he maps it, checks it all over and tweaks if needed. Was impressed as just thought it would be the usual, drop a random map that should work on, and hope for the best! Thats what I got when I bought from elsewhere years ago!
