problem with pulling to the left

Featured Replies

Well i had coilovers fitted, cupra console bushes fitted and swapped the rear tires to the front. I have had the tracking checked and apparently it is spot on (i have a print out but i don't understand it).

But my car still pulls to the left, but the steering wheel is slightly to the right when the wheels are straight.

When accelerating hard i could probably go around a roundabout it's that bad. But normal driving it just slightly goes to the left.

What could be causing this? i'm guessing something is bent.

I did go through a pot hole on the left front which popped the tire.

Cheers

No it's worse than that.

I've found the Fabias to be quite sensitive to camber, and that's with standard suspension and tyre size. If you lower the car and/or fit wider tyres then the tendency to tramline will increase. If you've had a proper full four wheel alignment done and iit's checked out OK then I can't see that there's anything to worry about. If you've only had the tracking checked on the front wheels then a full four wheel alignment at a specialist might be a good idea.

Sounds like tracking has been adjusted using one TRE only. Hence the steering wheel not central when wheels straight ahead. This means the PAS sensor will be constantly trying to correct and causing the pulling to the left. Tracking MUST be done by adjusting both TRE by equal amounts.

The tracking was done on a 4 wheel specialist thing listed in the thread about how tracking is a big con.

I dont see why all of a sudden the steering wheel is at 'halfpast 12' (about 5* degrees) when it wasn't before and it's pulling. i know all about the roads having caber and stuff, this is the car pulling off the road.

Cheers

When did it start doing this? Was it after you did something to the car? Was it after you hit the pothole and damaged the tyre? Was it after the car had the four wheel alignment?

That does sound a bit wrong! Mines been pulling to the left recently, definitely not camber related as on adverse cambers it actually went straighter rather than pulling to the right! Had an alignment done today and it sits pretty much spot on with no pulling now.

It does still stray slightly with the camber, but thats a different feel to the pulling I was getting, as It felt more like I was constantly fighting it to go straight (stiffer turning to the right than left).

Shame you're not located closer, as I could recommended the garage I went to... they've sorted mine twice now when others have failed!

It's allways been a bit out, but i went through a pothole which meant i needed to put my spare on, which was brand new and my right front had about 4mm left, so natually i thought it would pull. I then had my coilovers fitted by ally at unit18. Then i fitted my new tires so the wheels were balanced. then i had the console bushes changed and ally realigned. today i had the 4 wheel alignment check done at Bush tires. All this time it has been way out. made better when ally re aligned the front wheels.

I'm thinking it could have been from when i hit the pothole.

I don't know who did your 4-wheel alignment but the steering wheel should have been straight at the end of it. Even if the technician had to straighten it. When I had mine done they charged extra to straighten the steering wheel and it does tug fractionally to the left, but I've driven at least 4 vRS's and they have all pulled very slightly to the left. Can you post a copy of your Hunter Printouts?

Helpful..

Yeah i'll try and get a photo of it. There all green and he said it was good. i remember last time i went with the polo they was all red after i fitted coilies

I'd say get the 4wheel alignment done, tracking might not solve the issue.

they always pull to the left, mines is no different.

This is not normal pulling to the left.

Could either be a bent shocker or wishbone
