If only everything in life was as reliable as a Honda...

Year of manufacture......

This morning, after spending the winter in freezing conditions and with a bent blade.... New blade and it started first pull! As if it had only been used yesterday!

Joy was short lived as toward the end - DAMN pull cord snapped (might be the original 1992 one :D)

Out came the tools.... (yes, the crowbar was needed at one point)

All worth in the end! Filled a dumpy bag full of grass, but now not sure what to do with it! This is only about half the grass I cut though! :o I'm knackered now!

Are you bored this afternoon Jason? :p

I guess resorting to mowing a bloody big bit of lawn that really deserves a ride-on means I was a little bored. Needs doing though and the first cut is always the toughest!

My old Qualcast Suffolk Punch (older than I am, so maybe 30 when it was sold to a dealer for twice what it was bought privately for 10 years before) started first time every time once it had a new HT lead on it.

Honda make probably the worlds best lawnmowers for reliability and duty cycle (My old man used to fix and sell them as a business). You also don't need a crowbar to change the cord you Luddite!

Yeah - I kinda removed the top with the pull cord in (without realising it was in there) then started digging further which is when I reached the point of "hang on a f***ing minute, where's the damn pull cord then?"

By this time I had removed a big bolt in the middle to free up some kind of connecting part/s between pull cord mechanism and the engine..... hence why the crowbar was needed to hold the motor in place whilst I tackled the big bolt (was just turning the blade before)

i considered it a "minor service interval":thumbup::giggle:

It's far too cold up North to mow the lawn!

You'll be telling us that the sun has been out next and you were wearing shorts while cutting the grass

Was down to a T-shirt & 1 thin sweater. :D It's not spring just yet, but the grass has started to grow again....
