Hi, just wanted to say hello and present my new Octy.

I just purchased it this weekend.

It is the old 1.6 liter but it can run on ethanol (really good for avoiding taxes and huge running costs up here)

Ihope it will be with me for a loooong long time :-)

I guess this is not the most popular engine around the forum, but I hope that if someone has got the same one can give me some consumption figures (running on petrol also woudl be helpful) or some advices.

I have been looking around for a basic cheap run around - automatic - but witout much success. There is a 2002 Fabia 1.4 16V Classic 5dr forr sale near me. £2700 (which is overpriced I feel) with 66500 miles on the clock and it says 1 previious keeper. Am I mad to be considering a 24 year old car? I just missed out on a 2013 fabia though I was worried about the DSG gearbox. I used to have sometime ago a 2003 Skoda fabia and loved it. But I'm worried about taking on such a old car. I m

My recent (non-Skoda) cars have given dashboard warnings when the battery in the key fob runs down. This gives the driver the opportunity to change the battery and to keep the key functional. The battery in my Superb's key fob recently ran down, and it went from fully operational (working the button "plip" as well as the keyless entry) to completely flat during the course of a day at work. No warnings were displayed. I was unable to plip the car open, and had to walk to a shop, purchase a ne

I have a rattle as stated above, we diagnosed it today as front brake pads rattling in the carriers. 2014 Fabia vrs, proving very difficult to source oem correct new carriers in red, I have ordered some from Autodoc and will paint them before we fit them It initially sounded like exhaust contacting chassis or loose subframe fasteners
