Upgrading An OctyII Estate (Single Din)

Featured Replies

Hi. I'm tired of faffing about with the aux cable and charger for my ipod and want to go back to my Alpine ida-x001 that i had in my old car. It will be the 1st time i've replaced a single din in a double din space - any advice/does it need a particular cage? Which tools are required to remove head unit? Feel free to post some pics of single din conversions, most of the search results had missing photos. I presume i can get a pocket from skoda for the gap created by the missing din.

Also how easy are the speakers to change? Is it a case of removing the door card? Anything to watch out for? What speakers would you recommend?

Finally as a long shot has anyone got any pics of a sub install where the cd autochanger normally lives? I'm toying with the idea of an amp and sub, but need the boot space for mountain bikes, so i've been told about this option.

Sorry for all the questions, cheers for any help

You can get a full kit from skoda that includes a new dash surround, wiring loom and cage with pocket. Dont get the autoleads kit, it doesnt look that great and the skoda one is about the same price and looks like it was designed for the car. You'll need to run a switched 12v supply from the fusebox, as there is no switched 12v supply behind the headunit.

Cheers. So is the switched bit so it works with the ignition off? :S
