Diagnostic Socket - Where is it ?

Featured Replies

Hello,

Just wondered where the socket is to plug the diagnostic into ??

Thanks

Jon

By the steering wheel, on the right there is a cubby hole thing with an On swtich by/in it. If you open the cubby hole, then pull it down once more (takes force) it's in there.

It's Here

Sorry the pics are not mine, I can't remember which thread/post I nicked it from. ;)

i need to track down a diagnostic from someware need to see if i can get this bloomin central locking diagnosed before i end up paying stealer prices!)

You can get a vag-com cable from Ebay. I bought from this seller http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=190329451002 and it seems to work ok the few times I have tried it. With this cable you only get use of the 409.1 shareware version, which is limited (will let you read code numbers but won't let you clear or do much else) unless you pay approx £60 for the license. You can read the code numbers and search for them on the net to see what they mean. The other option is the VCDS group buy over in the group buys section for about £210 which can also be used on newer CAN-BUS cars. As I understand with newer Vag-com (VCDS) the license for the software is the cable itself.

Gotta agree, when you can use vag-com why pay the dealer a ridiculous £50+ to plug it into a computer for a minute or two?!

sounds good i mite see if i can either get a full license versoin or borrow someones then get one, if i get it diagnosed myself i can just tell them exactly whats what and not pay anymore than i need to haha, local dealer quoted me £80 to look at the central locking (plug into puta and strip down of door and curtosy unit central locking unit ect)
