Meguiars Clay Bar now rusty...

Featured Replies

Tried out the Meguiars Quik Clay Detailing System on the Fabia (black vRS) today - unfortunately I park about 1 yard away from a railway at work and so noticed some fallout 'sploges' on the bonnet etc.

Blimey, after doing half the bonnet the clay bar had gone a complete rusty colour with all bits in it!

Kneaded the bar into a new shape etc but now having finished most of the car all the outside edges of the bar are rusty. Can you clean it or is that it? Hope not as will have to use it again in six months I bet.

If it needs replacing it seems a bit much that only got one go, got lots of the spray from the kit left. Also can't actually see where to get another clay off their site.

Anyway, smooth paintwork now and sploges gone, so highly recommended nonetheless. Too dark for pics when I finished I'm afraid.

Swissol sell a paint rubber which is the same sort of thing, and they do it seperately from the fluid.

Edited to say: Just checked the meguiars site, and there whole quick clay package is the same price as the swissol rubber alone, so you may as well just order the meguiars one again. I believe you can use the fluid seperately as a wax top-up though.

Did you use the whole bar at once? I'm sure i read somewhere (maybe Meuiars forum) that you should break it into three pieces and keep the other 2 in sealed food bags.Something like that anyway, never used it myself.
