Vag-Com newbie

Featured Replies

Hi all, bought an Octavia Vrs tdi this week. Im looking to get vagcom setup on my laptop. I need advice on what cable to get. Are the ones on Ebay any good ? I take it it will have to be CAN compatible, and then it will be a cause of buying the latest VAGCOM software from Ross tech site ??

Thanks in advance

For an Octy II you need a genuine, CAN-capable cable.

That cable will work just fine.

If however you want to work on other Skoda cars or even any other Vag Range car then you would be better off getting a Hex-Can USB cable

But if you just want it for your car alone the micro can is fine.

The software is a free download it's only the cable which is licensed. If you get an Ebay Special you run the risk of updates disabling the cable.

It might be more expensive from Ross-Tech but it's worth it for peace of mind.
