Cleaning Xenon projector lenses

Featured Replies

I had noticed that my xenons (factory fitted) on my '02 octy seemed a bit dim. Closer inspection shows that the D2S bulbs have gone milky coloured (salt deposits apparently or something). As a matter of course (given the age and miles of the car), I've ordered some replacement Philips bulbs, plus the ones in the car at the moment are quite blueish which I believe is a sign of degredation.

Anyway, I noticed that the projector lenses for both the dipped and the fogs were a bit opaque looking. I managed to remove the fog light projector lens and cleaned it up, there was some residue on it that just wiped straight off. Although the lens looks cleaner now, the light output doesn't appear to be much different though. However, getting to the dipped beam lenses looks like a much, much harder job. Has anyone tried this? There are torx screws in unreachable places and 7mm nuts in equally awkward corners! Or would I be wasting my time and this slight milkiness to the lens simply isn't an issue?

Cheers. :)
