New Owner-tyre size inquiry

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I am new to this forum, I have purchased 2010 1.8 TSi, with tyre size 225/45 R17. Unfortunately, the roads in my country are in very bad condition, so that the ride comfort is denied. I want to install the standard size of 205/55 R16, but i have couple of questions.

1- Does the lower tyre size have significant effect on the ride comfort?

2- Is there any effect on the speed measurement, handling, or fuel consumption?

Hello!

Any body here?

Welcome to the forum.

16 inch wheels will clear the front brakes, your economy should improve as the tyres are 20mm narrower. I cannot help you with the other questions, but hopefully someone else will.

Welcome :)

The comfort should be improved but whether its significant or not is a matter of opinion. The speed measurement difference would be 0.4% less according to online calculators so speedo reading of 60mph=59.8mph, which I would guess is fine

Hope thats some help
