Maxi dot -standard or not?

Featured Replies

Nearly nobody here seems to mention ordering Maxi-Dot as an extra for Elegance octavias. Is it standard, then? I found among extras in the brochure. My order is TSI DSG Elegance, and my dealer happily let me pay 100£ for it. Hopefully, i'm not being ripped off. Or, am I.......?

One of the best bits to add to your car, it makes adjustments easy & worth every penny.

Saying that why it's not standard equipment now I don't know.

What sort of adjustments are you talking of Evening Star, i've just had mine retrofitted you see and i cant see much adjustment other than winterwheels and the time etc etc.

Maxi-Dot is standard on elegance and L&K versions of the Octavia, so if you are ordering from rep. you should not have to pay anything extra to dealer.

You can check the standard equiptment per model by going to www.skoda.ie and downloading the prices and specs for the octavia range, on page 3 you will see the details about Maxi-Dot. hope this helps.

Audio functions

Phone (If BT is fitted)

Navigation (If fitted)

Winter Tyres

Speed Warning

Service Interval (Check or Reset)

Lighting (Tourist Mode)

Language

Units

Doors (Convenience)

It's all in the manual.

BTW jonnb maxidot is NOT standard equipment on the Elegance model in the UK, however it might be in the IR.

It was my understanding from reading the brochure that Maxidot is NOT standard on Elegance spec - this does have a better computer display, but still not Maxidot.

John.

Oops!

Just noticed that the OP is in the IR so the specification is different to the UK mainland & according to the sales literature from the skoda.ie website it's a standard fitment over there; Which just goes to show that yet again we are being ripped off here in the UK. :x

I think you'll only see the option to adjust options that are actually fitted to your car

Ok i haven't got half of them functions, but the car is a classic spec so most of those items aren't on there.

I do have speed warning, but there doesnt seem to be a option for the anti hijack i presume what you meant by the "doors"

I dont appear to have anything to reset the service interval, or does that only appear when the car gets to needing a service?

Its standard if you spec DSG

I have a 1.8TSI DSG Elegance (delivered just before Xmas). It does have maxidot (not ordered separately) but my understanding was that it came fitted because I also have the Columbus system fitted too. This makes some sense as when in navigation mode (on the Columbus) it defaults to navigation on the maxidot. This shows certain info on the display such as time/distance to destination (also shown on Columbus), road (eg Axxx) and direction, distance to next turning/roundabout etc, display of roundabout on approach showing exit to take, display of left/right turns. I have found with the combination of both one can do without the verbal instructions constantly interrupting the radio/media!

Are you 100% sure? I thought it was only standard fit on L&K models.

Wasn't aware it could be retrofitted - is that an expensive/difficult task?

It depends if your car has already got a trip computer, if it has you can pickup a set of clocks for around £80 and get Ben @ Shark Performance to work his wonderful magic.

Unlike mine, if you haven't got a trip computer to start with...your going to have to buy a steering wheel module that at least supports "cruise control and the trip computer"

Thats when it can get a little expensive.

Its standard if you spec DSG

Are you sure? I was told otherwise when I ordered mine, I paid the extra 130 quid as I didn't want to risk the car turning up without it. If its standard then I will argue for a refund!

My new (delivered December 23rd 2009) elegance 1.8t dsg does not have maxi-dot. I subsequently found that I should have asked for this option at the time I orderd the car back in early September. Oh and I'm told that it cannot be retro-fitted. On reading the brochure more carefully it is clear that maxi-dot is an option for the elegance - it is my oversight and therefore my problem!

As I stated earlier!

UK & NI: Elegance trim - Maxidot is an OPTIONAL EXTRA.

Irish Republic: Elegance trim - Maxidot is STANDARD.

Well reports on the VRS's are that if you order the DSG then you get maxi dot - there was an email floating around here from SUK confirming this - may be worth an email to them.

I have ordered DSG and bluetooth so definately get it!
