some stupid questions (probably)

Featured Replies

i i have just purchased a 55 plate 2.0 tdi superb elegance, my first skoda! and to admit I'm well impressed. but looking at the forums i am now confused. due to cost and the wife ;-) (and growing kids) i have sold my Nissan 200sx touring and gone for comfort . i have a few questions if any one can help 1- what is the correct tyre. the size is 225/45/17 but 91 or 94 on the load index as both are on my car 2- what is this about water leaks IE- pollen filter / plenum chamber / grommets under battery etc 3- what is this disagreement about 1.9 and 2.0 diesels ( my first diesel) most of my drive to work is on the motorway, and do you have to get this dpf filled with fluid or iron filings or something. is it something i can check like oil etc. thanks. sorry for sounding like a complete Muppet. thanks in advance

Welcome,

Can't help with the tyres as i'm on 16"s (91's IIRC)

The water leak is covered pretty thoroughly on here, one such place is in the link in my signature, get the seal done BEFORE yours leaks - because it WILL.

The 2ltr PD140 has had a few teething problems with oil pump failure and the DPF needs refilling at around 80K according to others that have needed it topping up.

Oil pump problems tend to be terminal rather than "teething".

rotodiesel.

Do very regular servicing.....dont wait for the service reminder to appear every 12-15k miles....i do mine every 6k and change oil /air /pollen filters and with the regular clean oil will keep the soot down to minimum, provided you drive it gently....my car has done35k and its been perfect.....apart from a weep in the rad....its super smooth and a great cruising car for long journeys

I don't think you can just top the dpf fluid up mate, iirc it's a dealer job as it has to be told it's been refilled, and also I believe it has to be pressurised.
