Cupra splitter on standard (non-vRS) bumper

Featured Replies

I was thinking that I've never seen this combo done. I'm therefore assuming it isn't possible?

I'm looking to replace my standard bumper with a vrs one after a scrape in winter. But it's proving difficult to find one. As such, if I could spice up the original one a bit with say a splitter, I'd be inclined then to get the current one dusted in.

Also, any idea on price of the bump strip insert from the standard front bumper as I'd need one if I were to take this avenue.

Thanks.

yes anything is possible. you will just have to cut the middle legs of the splitter down. it wont look as deep and open on the standard one compared to the vrs bumper

As i've enever seen one up close, how do you go about attatching the splitter to the bumper? Is it a tigerseal jobby?

self tapping screws,10 min job max.

i've just replaced my bumper after my recent "rally driving experiance" and am quite interested in this does anyone have any pics of the splitter fitted?

cheers ian

If these splitters are only £ 18 odd then it's worth getting one for experimenting with!

Got a feeling the member "Suze" has got a Cupra splitter on her 1.8T 4x4. you can try PM-ing her but she doesn't get on here much.

The angle of this pic doesn't help much but this is her car!

My fella has one on his Octy

But he used plastic number plate screws

Which was a good idea as he hit a deer afterwards , it broke the screws off rather than tear the plastic bumper

I have a few pics on my VRS, to give you a idea what it would be like on a VRS.

I don't see why you would have a problem fitting to a none vrs bumper.

May need to consider how much of the splitter middle posts you cut down, as the VRS has a higher middle section at the bottom of the bumper, it accomadates the Cupra R splitter posts better.

Who ever fitted thers in 10 min I take my hat off too. Unless you are not includng the prep work first. You will need to cut flt the plastic lugs on the splitter so it sits flush to the bumper, as the cupra uses those lugs to insert into the bumper.

There is a how to on both Octy section and Fabia section on here.

I posted another one somewhere. Will dig it out and post a link if you can't find it in the search function

The plastic of the splitter is so soft anyway I wouldn't think it would be too much of a problem. When I hit my one the screws just pulled straight through the splitter and stayed in the bottom of the bumper.

I think they look great but my one lasted no time at all even with standard ride height so I won't be fitting another :(

I imagine that they will look a little more subtle on a non vRS bumper as they don't have the dropped corners and they shouldn't catch on things anywhere near as much.

I agree. I think I spent 15 minutes prepping it, 15 minutes getting the front bumper off (makes it so much easier) and about 10 minutes to actually drill the pilot holes and screw it on.
