Badge scratches

Featured Replies

Hey guys...

I've just removed my fabia 1.4 MPI badges from the back of the car.

I've cleaned off all the excess glue etc, but I'm left with very small surface scratches around where the letters were.

I can't feel them at all when i run my hand across, so they must be light scratches?

I've tried to blend some T-cut in, but nothing happened.. So maybe I'm doing it wrong? O.o

What should I do to get rid of them?

Cheers!

Most likely polish/wax residue rather than scratches. IPA would shift them, or ScratchX, or even better a machine polish with something like Menz Power Finish on a yellow pad.

Went out and bought some ScratchX, and spent about 40 minutes trying to polish it in.

It's only very faint now, so it works - but it takes a hell of a long time.

Think I need to find a decent machine polish..

Thanks for the advice B)

Might be worth asking some of the guys on here if they are local to you, to pop over and machine polish it out for you...........

Hairdryer and dental floss or fishing line. Heat the badge till the glue goes soft, then slice off by running floss behind the badge.

Thanks for that MT, how about the remaining glue - does it come off with heating or do I need to use a solvent of some kind?

Thanks again

Usually most of it stays on the badges. The rest will come off with a 50/50 IPA wipedown (Isopropal alcohol and water mixed)

I have the exact same problem with my 1.4 mpi! It's black and an X reg... this seems pretty odd as everyone else seems to take the badge off cleanly without any of these marks left over afterwards?

So what's the best plan of how to remove the marks? I'm tempted to try some toothpaste on there? I've polished it hard about 5 times now and it hasn't done anything what so ever... Really would appreciate some help on this guys - it's annoying me!

I actually have a small circle mark where the abrasive scratchx wore away the paint slightly.. The fabia is still faintly there :p

I've given up now and the mark doesn't worry me, there are so many scratches and dents etc I've given up :D

so just be careful if you so polish in an abrasive like scratchx as it can rub down your paintwork ;p
