Steering calibration settings and procedure

Featured Replies

I've been playing about swapping my dash clocks about and now the power steering no longer works.

I took it to a local guy who has vagcom but he wasn't able to reset the sensor. He said the sensor was measuring the angle of the steering so it was working.

Can someone give me the exact procedure for the Octavia II as well as the "measuring blocks" so we can try it again?

Anyone help with this? I'm still stuck with no real power steering at all.

Try this

One full lock of the steering wheel to the left

Straighten the wheel

One full lock to the right

Straighten wheel

Drive foward not goin over 5 MPH and the light should go out.

Trust me.... that doesn't work.

I've done about 200 miles in the car since messing about with the dash clocks which is what seems to have killed the steering.

So you have tried that exact procedure?

I drove about in mine too but it wouldn't go out until i followed the exact procedure.

Just been out and tried exactly as you said and no difference.

It probably hasn't helped that the radiator fans also don't stop when you turn the engine off and thus the battery must be disconnected every time you stop which then made the yellow steering light come back on every time it was reconnected until now when it doesn't work anymore.

You must have a list of fault codes then, try posting them up.
