Been a shock to the system!

Featured Replies

Hi ,
Good to find a site dedicated to the Skoda way of life!
Well it's Company car time and needed a motor to replace VW Touran pd140 which has been brilliant unlike the dealers who have been utter sh**e!
In 12 services over a 3 year period the car had to go back 5 times because they either forgot to put a part on or left it loose leaving me in the proverbial.
So, thought I'd have a look at what's around and compare etc. The motor had to tick several boxes including-big boot-diesel-low personal tax- good seating
(im 6'3 and 19 stone!) as do 30+k a year and restore faith in dealerships! oh! and not exceed £22k!
To be honest not an easy task!
Tried Audi A4 avant nice but way to small, BMW 318d touring best drive of all but again to small, vw no thanks, mondy estate loads of goodies like the Mazda6
but also way to common and didnt inspire, dont do volvo or frenchies so it narrowed it down a bit lol!
OK Being brutally honest Ive always been a bit of a car snob when the word SKODA ever came up in the conversation!
The brand being the butt of so many jokes its difficult to shake of the stigma especially when you remember models lke the Rapid (anything but) etc
Knowing that they have been part of the VW family for nearly twenty years I thought maybe its time to shrug off the ignorance and go and test drive an Octavia.
Well, like many others after the initial hurdle of walking through into the showroom I was more than pleasantly suprised!
Staff at this garage were very pleasant and not typical of the pushy VW/AUDI brigade and i soon found myself behind the wheel of an Octavia!
Yes like all motors you have to make compromises and the estate while big isn't in the same league as the Touran for space but it more than makes up for that
in practicality and offers a bigger grin in the drivability department.
Well impressed with the VRS-CR170! Took a while to find right seat position, which was right back and down with wheel as low as it would go, but then it was
switch on and take off lol! Piggin wheel spun it in second with salesman on board who laughed and said it was typical of first time drivers of the VRS!
After a 10 mile drive I was hooked! Couldnt believe it! Me in a Skoda!! Certainly made me eat my own words!
Ordered an Octavia Estate CR170 with some goodies and now wait for its long long delivery 8 WEEKS DOH!
Cant wait! :0)
Cheers!

I'm sure you won't regret your choice!

What colour did you go for?

Welcome :)

Thanks!

Gone for White!

Not like me as last few motors have been black or silver, although I liked the Race Blue I just felt it suited the estate even though Ive had to rely on pictures in forums or on tinternet

as these motors are still a rare siight!

Thanks!

Phew, what a wait (11 weeks) but had the call and its arrived at the dealer! (Robert Eardley in Stoke-on -trent)

Cant collect it unitl next saturday so popped down today to have a gander in its pre pdi form!

Candy white VRS CR Estate with Silver rails looks the part even when its filthy!

So bye bye Touran and hello VRS!

Will post some pics as soon as its in my hands! :0)

Went exactly the same way I did - Touran 2.0 PD140 to Octavia vRS 2.0 CR, though I went for the DSG option.

Haven't looked back since - I'm sure you'll be the same

Please post up some (lots) of pics when you get so that we can all see what a white estate looks like :)

Hi Brimma,

Cant wait !

Couldnt bring myself to go for DSG although expect when i'm next stuck on the motorway i might regret it !lol

Asked about mudflaps and they said modifications to wheel arch are needed? Does yours have them fitted?

Will post loads of pics once its in my hands!

Cheers!

Haven't put flaps on mine so far, so can't comment - I'm sure someone on here will be able to help though

I went for DSG as I'd had a craving for one for a while, and would have regretted NOT going for it. It is great in traffic, especially as you say when stuck on the motorway
