Fault code on Octavia VRS WRC

Featured Replies

Hi. I have had the engine management light on for a while but with no detrimental effect. Dealer said I need a new ECU despite it running fine!! £900. A friend check it out on his meter and the fault code was PO601 $10 GENERIC CODE. Internal control module memory check sum error. ]Any idea what this means? Does it sound expensive or just keep driving the car? Cheers

Keep driving, i am, got the same code. Seems to have been a very small problem on early cars whether standard or mapped. There was cure an ECU re-flash from Skoda a good few years back and on mapped cars the tuners were able to tweek their maps to get rid of the code.

Thanks for that. Had light on for 2 years!!! Drove around Cz, Poland etc with light on and never missed a beat. Just thought that I would give the girl a treat and fix prob. but I think you are right. Keep driving."
