Need to top up OIL ?

Featured Replies

Need to top up my octy 2007 VRS TDi. I have bought Mobil 1 ESP Formula 5w-30 Fully Synthetic, is this OK?

Im dumb when it comes to PD, longlife service etc but the guy in halfords was dumber :giggle:

I will be servicing every 10-15k. Had a quick search but need some reassurance from you guys!

This quote on the back bothers me slightly.. ^All VW engines with the exception of Unit-Injector / Pump-Duse TDI without Longlife Service and without DPF between 1999-2003 and R5/V10-TDi before model year 2006

Thanks in advance!

Well I am in a similar boat and went down to Pullman Skoda for my oil. Here's the Castrol oil link for you to search for your car.

I looked on the Mobil oil site for a similar facility since that is what you have bought - it's there but they seem to ignore Skoda as a manufacturer so not much use.

The Mobil website says it meets VW507: http://www.mobil.com/UK-English/Lubes/PDS/GLXXENPVLMOMobil_1_ESP_Formula_5W-30.asp

So should be fine.

I agree with robertb,I have exactly the same mobil1 ESP formula oil for my tdi140pd engine, it was sold to me by my local dealer. The exception is there for the pd engines because they need oil conforming to VW505 01 spec, this is limited to those engines on fixed 10,000 mile / annual servicing without the particulate filter. Any engines on variable servicing or with the DPF must have the 507 00 oil as this is a low ash oil which is higher specified than the 505 01. Your engine will be fine with the oil you have.
