New Elegance Price/Specification

Featured Replies

At last I have made up my mind to buy an Elegance 1.4 TSI with DSG. Colour Candy White.

I have now had 3 test drives, at different dealers, and the power and acceleration from the 1.4 is more than

enough for my requirements. I like most things about this particular model and now am trying to define the

ordering specification.

So far this is what I am thinking of ordering.

Factory options.

1. Folding power mirrors.

2. 3 spoke steering wheel with DSG

3. Light assistant.

4. Floor mats.

5. Full size spare wheel.

Dealer options.

1. Door sill covers - Octavia.

2. Front mud flaps.

3. Plastic boot dish.

4. Boot netting system.

I have trawled the net getting prices for the basic car, without any options, and the best so far is from

Drive the Deal. They quoted £13412 - with 6 months RFL.

First of all I would like to hear from any one regarding my proposed spec. what have I missed off and what would you change.

Please feel free to throw as many bricks as you like; no offense taken will be glad to hear from you.

Secondly and most important to me is the price. Do you think this is a fair quotation or should I still look else where?

I think one posting indicated that some of the wheeler dealers buy the cars from a particular main dealer and it was advantageous

to go direct to them. I don't know of any such wheeler dealer but there must be one or two about who would like to deal directly

instead of via a 3rd party.

So if any one can help in is way I should certainly like to hear from you. It would also be useful to record this for any new or

old members who might be considering a purchase.

Thank you for reading this and I do hope that you are able reply in some way.

Hi,

Spec is a personal choice. Give Jeremy Taylor or Steve Cantrell a call at Rainworth Skoda 01623 623400, well worth a call, many members on here have purchased from them.Good luck.

Thanks for the tip Tisca.

Will give Rainworth Skoda a bell and let you know how I get on.

Thanks.

I get a lot of use from the MDI interface on my Elegance. It's great to be able to leave my iPod in the glove box and have access to all my music. I have yet to put a CD in the Bolero since getting the car in December.

I think headlamp washers are a very useful option if you do a bit of driving. If you enjoy your music, the sound system upgrade is well worth the money IMHO.

Headlamp washers are standard on Elegance.

I have a FL Elegance and would say add the "multi-function steering wheel with maxidot". It gives you access to control the stereo and also the maxidot allows you to change various bits on the car that are otherwise a dealer change option. Other things I went for are ESP and curtain airbags, but that's only cos I'll be transporting around my young son so want to have the safety features in check.

I would talk to your dealer about getting the mats/flaps thrown in for free - I certainly did as its a pittance to them.

we've ordered a 1.4 Elgance estate.

The mats, light assist and spare were all first to get chucked in for nothing during my negotiations

we added the MF wheel, but as it's manual, no DSG paddles, and no bluetooth as I juts don;t use the phone ata ll when driving.

Have spoken to Jeremy and awaiting a quote which looks OK

Found out more about those power folding mirrors, but more of that later.

I have a similarly specced car, here are my thoughts on the above.

ESP is standard on 1.4 and 1.8TSI DSGs

Aren't folding mirrors standard on Elegance? They were on mine (59 plate), and seem to be still in the brochure.

I also like the MDI option very much, but if you can fit your driving music on an SD card then no need.

Boot netting system. Although it's listed as an option, I didn't order it, and mine came with it for free from the factory. I've never used it as it would just get tangled up in muddy pushchair wheels, so can't comment on its usefulness.

Glad I got the paddle shift wheel. To be honest I leave it in Auto 95% of the time, it works well, but I know I'd have regretted not having the paddle shifters.

Thanks to everyone who replied to my inquiry.

At last I have specked and ordered my car and the details are as follows :-

Skoda Octavia Elegance 1.4 TSI 122bhp DSG. Colour Candy White

Complete with the following options:-

1. Electric memory drivers seat and electrically adjustable,

heated and foldable door mirrors with auto dimming

and memory function.

2. 3 spoke multi-function steering wheel for radio,

Maxi-dot and paddle shift.

3. Light assistance.

4. Full size spare wheel.

5. Interior floor mats.

6. Door sill covers – Octavia logo

7. Front mud flaps.

8. Plastic boot dish.

9. Boot netting system.

The only thing that hacked me off was ordering the Item 1. option

I needed to have the power folding mirrors and this was the only way available to get them on a new order.

So I pushed for an extra discount to off set the price increase and got it.

Overall I am very happy with the outcome.

Would still like to hear from members what they would have altered in my spec.
