I've found this model for 'only'

I haven't listened to the dab 54, but a few people here have the 52 and 53. They may be along shortly to voice their opinions

The ISO connectors are straight forward. The biggest challenge will be sorting out that extra internal aerial

I have the older 52 model, as Xavier has already said the biggest problem will be installing that aerial, the rest is easy. Regarding the power, the best thing is to get the vag wiring kit from halfords or bluespot.co.uk as this will save butchering the cars wiring to make things work properly.

My only observation of DAB is that quantity of channels rather than quality is order of the day, most of the channels are only broadcast at 128kbps. This is less quality than a 128kbps MP3 file because its not MPEG compression, although in a car you dont notice this you may if you have a decent speaker setup.

DAB is at its best if you want to listen to stations that are not available on FM, talksport is so much better, as are many others.

thanks for the info, did you find that the standard speakers could handle the higher power or are they up for the chop as well? ?

I changed the front speakers for sony custom fit speakers, but the rear ones are the factory speakers and seem ok for handling the power.

my quest for quality ice came to a halt, when the boss saw how much i wanted to spend!!!?!?!? in the meantime i picked up a sony xm-423sl amp off ebay, which makes things a bit louder..

maybe a dab system might arrive in the new year.
