I am looking to start some work on my Car myself rather than putting the VRS into the Garage and costing me more than I want/can afford to pay.

However I would like to know if there is a good electronic Workshop repair manual.

Also would love to be able to install a full diagnostics setup on my laptop if it is ata ll possible (price dependant) as I want to fiddle with the set-up and also learn more about the running of my VRS.

Can anyone advise on such manuals and programs please.

There are plenty of code readers out there, but if you want to do anything other than read/erase codes VCDS is the way to go.

You could get a cheap third party cable and use the shareware 409 version and get full functionality by purchasing a $99 license.

There is wealth of information here on what can be done. Haynes do a workshop manual for the Fabia which should cover the basics of the electrical system.
