1st one is reagarding a Seat key, my mates LEon key doesn't light up anymore when you press the button so we assume it's broke, he has spotted on on ebay which looks the same but the part no is different, will this work ok once coded with VCDS.

2nd is another mates pd130 golf, which when scanned shows a brake switch code, which doesn't seem too want to clear, he suspects a wiring issues rather than the switch, his glow plug light keeps flashing though, is this linked too the brake light switch issues.

Any thoughts ?? :D

With the brake light switch, I had a Fabia the other week with a brake light switch fault, I replaced it and the glow plug light was still flashing and the code would not clear. I put another switch in with the same result. I then had a think about it and decided to use the accelerator with the brake pedal depressed, after a while the light went out (I think) and I was able to clear the code.

Can't really advise on the key, but have you checked the battery?, sometimes the solder breaks up around where the buttons join the circuit board, a dab with a hot soldering iron could sort it out.

Cheers dude.

So the glow plug light is because of the switch then ?.

Did you poke the throttle with engine running or switched off ??

He was arsing around with the key trying see if anyones door bell would go off whilst hammering the button so I think he has killed it lol.

I get him too have a look at that suggestion.

With the engine running.
