Can anyone give me a rough idea of how much a new clutch will cost me for my mk1 octy vrs. Started slipping a bit today so want to prepare myself for the big dent in my wallet! :doh:

It depends on what you wanna replace it with, you can get a genuine replacement clutch and flywheel on eBay for £304!

New clutch: £85

New Dual Mass Flywheel: £250 (this is the biggie)

Fitting: 4 hours at £50 per hour £200

total + vat about £600

But if you want to, you can replace the dual mass flywheel with a single mass one - the conversion kit with the clutch and flywheel costs less than a std clutch and DMF combined, then if it goes again in a couple of years you won't get stung for £250 for another DMF.

Awesome GTI do the single mass conversion kit for about £320 but I've seen it cheaper (£200-300) online.

Many thanks for the info. Much appreciated. Symptons haven't got any worse yet so will be hanging on to this one a bit longer!
