cambelt inquiry

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Have just bought 56 plate octavia vrs petrol(love the car)and just have a question about replacing the cambelt. My car has only done 23,000 miles but will be 4 years old in september. Because of the low mileage I am unsure whether to change the cambelt,

What do you guys recommend?

I think its 4 years regardless of how low your mileage. I've also got a 56 plate vRS with only 27K on the clock but I will be getting the cambelt, tensioners and waterpump changed on it's 4th birthday. I was quoted £450 by a local Skoda dealer the other day for the work.

That's kinda what i thought, thanks. Have also been quoted around 450 from skoda dealer but got a quote from local vag garage for 300 using genuine skoda parts.

I was going to go local but I want to keep my service history with Skoda so that when my ESP fails I will hopefully get some good will as I cannot afford £1500 for the repair.

Have a look here:

Thanks for that. Had heard about the ESP problem but thought it would still be ok if skoda parts were used by a vag garage. I got a 12 month warranty when i bought my car so hopefully if I do get the ESP problem (and i'm fairly certain I will, I have the worst luck in the world....bar none!) it will be before the warranty runs out.
