After seven years of Skoda ownership have found the forum at last.

Bought a Octavia Elegance TDi Estate from new in 2003. Fttted a Chip Box from East Coast Racing in 2004 which upped the bhp from 110 to 135. It improved the performance and torque substantially and it also improved the mpg to a virtually constant 53 mpg irrespective of town or distance driving,. previously around 45mpg.

Only time the car visited a garage was for service or its cam belt change.

Two weeks ago I part exchanged it for a 2006 Superb 1.8T Classic. Auto (with 20543 miles on the clock). What a change - the Superb is just that - quiet, smooth and with the Tiptronic gearbox so easy to drive.

The only down side is the fuel comsumption - around 30mpg, but having investigated a bit I dicovered that with a stage 1 remap of the ECU this can be improved to over 35mpg plus an extra 30bhp (to 170). It could be as much as 200+bhp with stage 2 remap.

Have any of you had this done & if so am I correct in my findings ?
