Whining after engine switched off

Featured Replies

After going for a shortish run I lifted the bonnet to top up the windscreen washers. There was a quiet whining sound from the front/top of the engine bay. It stopped after 30 seconds or so before I could locate it.

Any ideas? Might it be an electric pump circulating oil through the turbo?

Comming from the front of the engine ?

EGR Valve sticking ?

  • Author

Been doing it from new. How could I tell if it was "stuck". A VW site also mentions that a EGR valve calibration sequence might be taking place. Does that make sense?

Common Fault,

Mine does it, but it doesn't bother me, as i have the EGR deleted since it was remapped from the DPF mod
