A Superb.

I'm in the market for a new car, Madame Superb has served me nearly three years now.

I've had varied bids on her as a PX, ranging from £2250 as a straight no questions buy from a trader, to £3500 for a PX on a 15k car.

I find this all a bit sad, when I look at the 51 plate crap on autotrader if in comparison makes my car worth 4k minimum, I know ppl have to make a profit on it, but if I was looking for a large car on an 04 plate and saw mine I'd be gagging to buy it, I'm almost sad she's hit the stage where she's considered a cheap car, for the same or less money that an Astra buys I have a fully loaded car that just eats everything else, I know it's easy to say, but knowing what I know now having owned a Skoda the motor trade should be at the stage where it can't get enough of them, what do you think will break first, my 100k Superb or a 100k Mondeo? I know the answer, it's like asking if Man Utd will beat Darlington in the FA Cup.

Opinions.

Have to say, even being a Gooner, that Man U would beat Darlington in the FA Cup ;)

Sorry to hear about the low valuation :S

Keep running the car until it's worth nothing or is that not an option?

Are you looking for a large car on an 04 plate?

Think I would be tempted to hang onto it for a bit longer as there are

plenty of miles left in it yet :)

If you understand motoring psychology and have a job for a big Skoda, it's a bargain (if it's a diesel and if you keep it until it's practically scrap).

If not, join the herd, buy a BMW and pay through the nose on a continuous basis.

Anyone buying a big Skoda just has to be fully aware of the residuals.

rotodiesel.

Yep, that's what I am doing, I would rather just pass it onto the Mrs or something than trade it in for nothing............

just to add my two pence worth.

Got given one with 194,000 miles on it from my dad (well its for the other half)

and I have a 58 plate octavia elegance (company car) and even with all the little bits i have wrong with the superb it i think it runs better than my octavia.

The engine sounds sweet even at 194k and a slipping clutch.

The old girl dosent like it as she had to get out of a chipped & tuned golf 1.8T (two babys and not enough room lol).....

Well, here's how it is, I just can't decide if to get a Passat or an Avensis, right now out of 4 candidates only 2 remain available, the Avensis is a 2.0 rather than a 1.8 resulting in a 10% fuel penalty, and the Passat has a DPF on it, so it looks like for now I shall remain a Skoda owner, actually if a 2.0 SE DSG was 15k S/H, which it should be because the Passat's are around that or lower for 58 plate car's, instead of the 18k+ they are commanding I wouldn't be facing this quandry, believe it or not I could buy one brand new from Cabs Direct for around that, well, if Skoda would actually build some I could anyway.

So it looks on the cards that the Sup will enter year 4 of service to me soon, and after that I can't see me selling it until it's dead.

I have taken the decision to run mine (55 plate 2.5TDi, 51k miles) for a couple more years as it is almost worthless as a part-ex. In a couple of years time I won't need a big car so I can either keep it till it has major failure then scrap it or just flog it off for a couple of grand and put that to a smaller motor. Looking at a new Superb, they're very nice and all, but not THAT much nicer than my 2.5 Elegance once I factor in the >£20k or so that I'd have to fork out for the 4x4 2.0 CRD 170bhp estate that I'd like.
