Octy tyre split

Featured Replies

I noticed that when I parked at work on Monday morning, and walked around the rear of my car, that there was a split in the inner edge of the tyre wall - I think that best explains it

The tyre has been on the car for between 12-18 months, iirc. I am not aware of having done anything to cause this split, any ideas - or am I just unlucky?

That doesnt look to healthy, it does look like the tyre structure has failed.

Tyre pressures ok?

I'm thinking "pothole"; not a crater, one of those nasty ones that's only just wider than the tyre!

Looks like pothole damage to me too. That's the sort of damage you get when you hit a pothole whilst trying to turn.

Yeah, defo pothole and not a manufacturing defect!

Tyre pressures are all good, I check them generally once a week (last time they were checked was Saturday evening).

Ooooh, I reported a number of pot holes to various councils (Dorset & Wiltshire), but doubt I could make a claim against any of them....
